A mockingbird just sang to me
From his tall post in yonder tree.
With deja vue in every word
He mocked each song he ever heard.
He then went on without abate
To even mock a squeaky gate.
He shared his love, his breast unfurled
And sang us to a sweeter world.
Dear Lord please teach my heart to sing
Like my bird friend, let it take wing
To soar among the heav'nly winds
And serenade my Earthly friends.
